Strategic Expansion of Hotel Operations: DERTOUR Group to become sole owner of DSR Hotel Holding

DERTOUR Group, one of Europe’s leading travel and tourism companies, continues to expand its hotel business by taking full ownership of DSR Hotel Holding (DSR HH). To this end, DERTOUR Hotel & Resorts GmbH acquires, effective 1 August 2026, the shares in the joint venture currently held by Deutsche Seereederei.

DSR Hotel Holding currently operates and markets 34 hotels across Germany, Austria and Italy. Its portfolio includes well-known brands such as A-ROSA, aja and HENRI, as well as renowned individual hotels including the Louis C. Jacob in Hamburg and Hotel NEPTUN in Warnemunde. Following the recent opening of a HENRI hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the portfolio will continue to grow with the opening of the A-ROSA hotel on Lake Tegernsee in September. The company employs more than 2,700 people.

Since 2021, DSR Hotel Holding has been part of a joint venture between Deutsche Seereederei and DERTOUR Group. After increasing its stake to 74.9 per cent in 2024, DERTOUR Group is now taking full ownership through the acquisition of the remaining shares. The move simplifies DERTOUR Group’s ownership structure in the hotel segment and further strengthens a strategically important area of its business.

Hotel Business as a Key Growth Driver

For DERTOUR Group, the hotel business is one of its core growth areas. Since 2021, all hotel-related activities have been brought together under a dedicated Hotel Division. Today, the division comprises 12 brands with around 120 hotels in 15 countries and employs approximately 5,000 people. In particular, hotels that can be easily reached by car or train are becoming an increasingly important strategic segment within the hotel division.

“By taking full ownership of DSR Hotel Holding, we are continuing to invest in the targeted expansion of our hotel business. Hotels are a key part of the travel experiences we offer, and our own hotel consistently achieve the highest levels of guest satisfaction and profitability,” says Christoph Debus, CEO DERTOUR Group. “The DSR Hotel Holding portfolio stands out for its exceptional locations – whether in city centres, by the water or in the mountains. Looking ahead, our strategy is also to further expand our portfolio of owned hotels.”

“We will continue to pursue our growth strategy with a clear focus on the future. I would like to extend my special thanks to Horst Rahe, Managing Shareholder of Deutsche Seereederei. Through outstanding entrepreneurial vision, innovative spirit and extraordinary personal commitment, he has played a decisive role in building this high-quality hotel and brand portfolio. This achievement deserves our highest recognition,” Debus adds.

“We are proud of what we have built together with DERTOUR Group. Today, DSR Hotel Holding is exceptionally well positioned to continue its successful development. Going forward, Deutsche Seereederei will focus on its own activities in developing new tourism concepts. At the same time, we look forward to maintaining a close partnership with DERTOUR Group on selected projects,” says Horst Rahe, Managing Shareholder of Deutsche Seereederei.

New CEO to Take Office in August

At the same time, DSR Hotel Holding will have a new CEO: On 15 August 2026, Philipp von Czapiewski will assume the CEO role and be responsible for the company’s continued growth and development. He will also join the Hotel Board of DERTOUR’s hotel division, where DSR Hotel Holding is represented with its own seat.

“With Philipp von Czapiewski, we are appointing an experienced executive who will help shape the company’s next phase of growth while further strengthening DSR Hotel Holding’s position within our hotel organisation,” says Ingo Burmester, CEO of DERTOUR Group Hotel Division. “It is important to us to preserve the identity and strengths of DSR Hotel Holding while building on its leading position in the leisure hotel market in Germany, Austria and Italy.”
